The Neste plant expansion project, in Singapore, will increase the overall capacity of the company’s BioDiesel to 1.3 million tons per year, bringing the total capacity of the plant close to 4.5 million tons per year, in 2022. Building works for expansion of the current plant began at the beginning of the year and Neste will launch the new production line in Singapore during the first half of 2022.

In 2017, the sales volume of Neste, a Finnish company, was 13.2 billion euros and in 2018, it ranked second in the list of the 100 most sustainable companies in the world. This is because all Neste industrial plants produce renewable diesel, renewable aviation fuel and raw materials for various polymers and chemical materials, making it the largest biodiesel production company in the world.

Our role into the design process for the expansion project of the Neste refinery in Singapore has involved the architectural design of all 12 buildings serving the plant, both for the FEED and EPC phases. The use of BIM was fundamental in order to guarantee a multidisciplinary design between subcontractors and different disciplines, a single coordinated and georeferenced building model, designed according to customer-defined specifications and local regulations.
