The “Road Infrastructure” Commission of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Rome in collaboration with the “Analysis and Evaluation of Degradation on Existing Works” Commission is offering a free technical seminar that will illustrate the latest technologies and recent developments in surveying and digitization of existing works, the basis for infrastructure design. These topics deal with the new horizons and scenarios of modeling such as BIM and DIGITAL TWIN. Specifically, it should be recalled that BIM, or Building Information Modeling, is now the future of infrastructure design, a methodology that allows the creation of a digital model with relevant potential also for the future management and maintenance of works. A modeling that is not limited to geometric information, but also related to the functional, performance and environmental characteristics of a work, whether it is a bridge, a building or a simple curb. The Digital Twin is a digital representation of a physical object or system: it is able to interact with the real world, thanks to integration with sensors and other IoT devices that will be shown during the event. Such technologies, although emerging, could revolutionize the entire construction and construction management industry.
