What they are

Cookies are small files that a website stores in the visitor's browser; similar tools, such as the browser's local storage, serve the same purpose. Italian law distinguishes technical cookies, which are necessary for the site to work and can be set without consent, from statistics, profiling or advertising cookies, which require consent (art. 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003; Guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority of 10 June 2021).

Technical cookies

They do not require consent and cannot be refused from the banner.

• b1p_consent: stores the choice you made in the banner (accepted or rejected), its date and the version of this policy. Duration 6 months. First-party cookie, set by this site.
• __cf_bm: set by the hosting provider (Cloudflare) only when needed, to tell automated traffic from human visitors. Duration 30 minutes. Third-party cookie (Cloudflare).

Statistics cookies, only with your consent

We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to learn how many people visit the site, which pages they read and which channel they come from. We use the data in aggregate form to improve the site; we do not use it for advertising or to identify individuals.

• _ga: distinguishes your browser from others on later visits. Duration 2 years. Third-party cookie (Google).
• _ga_RMVNV1VVYK: keeps the state of the browsing session. Duration 2 years. Third-party cookie (Google).

Until you click "Accept", no data is sent to Google and none of these cookies is set. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; we have disabled Google Signals and ads personalisation and set data retention in Google Analytics to 2 months. The cookie duration (2 years) is how long the cookies stay in your browser unless you delete them; the data collected stays in Google Analytics for 2 months and is then deleted. What is not there

No profiling or advertising cookies. No embedded third-party content: no videos, maps or social buttons. Fonts and graphics are served by the site itself. Links to LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram and other sites are plain links: those sites' cookies apply only if you open them, under their own policies.

The banner and your choice

On your first visit a banner appears with the "Accept" and "Reject" buttons. Closing the banner with the X counts as a rejection. Your choice is valid for 6 months; if this policy changes substantially, the banner is shown again. You can change your mind at any time from the "Manage cookies" link in the footer or from the button below: if you withdraw consent, Google Analytics cookies are deleted and collection stops.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). In some cases, blocking technical security cookies may prevent access to the site. For Google Analytics, Google's opt-out add-on is also available: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
