In future, the relationship between citizens, or public or private clients, and the authority, in the administrative procedures for issuing a building permit or an administrative authorisation for a BIM project, will be mediated by a model in IFC format. The stages will correspond to the traditional ones, but E-permit, by turning into parameters all the information needed to check compliance with specific requirements of the planning regulations and including it in the IFC model, will allow an automatic and complete check.

This will be very useful both for designers, who will be able to check automatically that their design meets the minimum requirements for obtaining permits, and for the public administration, which will be able to implement a system for the automatic checking of planning applications.

The applicant will be able to produce all the documents and data required in a single operation, and the application, submitted digitally, will be automatically rejected at the first check of the formal and substantive consistency of the data and documents if it shows obvious gaps.

The advantages in terms of savings in time and cost, and of quality of the result, are considerable.
